Muslims throng Bhopal as Ijtima begins today
The 67th Aalami Tableeghi Ijtima (Annual Global Muslim
Congregation) will begin from Saturday at Eintkhedi near Bhopal with the
dawn prayer (Fajr Namaz).
The railways has also set up counters to provide travel tickets
and reservations at the venue while BSNL has set up PCOs for public
convenience. First-aid stalls have also been erected.
“We have appealed the volunteers to take special care to ensure that the venue remains polythene and tobacco-free,” said spokesperson Ateeq-ul-Islam, adding that the committee hasn’t allowed a single shop at the venue to keep tobacco products. A group of 2,500 trained volunteers would also manage traffic arrangements from the railway station to the venue.
The main tent is divided and labelled with names of areas to house people from several localities.
A separate tent accommodation has been made to house 1,000 Jamaats coming from abroad. These tents have additional infrastructure like water and toilet facilities. Entry to this zone is prohibited for locals. Many Jamaats from Russia, USA, Morocco, Yemen, Sri Lanka, France, Malaysia, Indonesia, Fiji, South Africa, Ghana and other nations have already arrived.
